Photographers and creatives are invited to put the concepts of color management into practice in this hands-on color workshop. Using the latest color tools, we will set up a complete workflow from display to print. In this class, we will:
  • Explain color management terms and concepts
  • Calibrate several types of displays, and compare results
  • Match displays to print output
  • Apply Adobe Suite Color Settings
  • Set up print driver settings
  • Explore RIP technology
  • Build output profiles

CMYK Workflow Demystified

Color consistency, repeatability, and meeting standards are critical pieces to an advanced color management workflow. In this workshop, we will explain what standards such as SWOP, GRACoL, and FOGRA are, and how to utilize them in your workflow. We will cover the complete imaging workflow from capture to retouching to file conversion and delivery. In this workshop we will:
  • Explain common print standards such as SWOP, GRACoL, and FOGRA
  • Review best practices for retouching, file conversion, and delivery
  • Introduce the GMG RIP system, and print files to the standards
  • Explore the EFI RIP system, and print files to the standards
  • Verify that the standards have been met with several different color management applications
  • Discuss what happens to your files when they go to the press
